How does the theory test work?
The official theory test at Færdselsstyrelsen has 25 questions with 4 answer options each. You get 25 minutes, and you may have at most 5 errors. Every figure below is stated on Færdselsstyrelsen's own pages.
Digital or paper test
The theory test exists in both a digital and a paper version. In the digital test you can move back and forth between the questions; in the paper one you cannot. The requirements are identical: 25 questions and at most 5 errors.
The error limit
You pass with at most 5 errors out of 25 questions. E-Teori's full 25-question practice tests use that same limit, so a pass here is measured against the real test's requirement.
How long you get
You get 25 minutes for a category B test — the same for the digital and the paper version.
How long a pass stays valid
A passed theory test is valid for 18 months, so the practical test has to fall within that window.
Price and booking
The test fee for category B is DKK 1,600. Your driving instructor books the slot in Færdselsstyrelsen's booking system, and slots go on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to bring
Valid ID — a passport, a driving licence from an EU/EEA country, or an ID card — plus your stamped and signed application (P23) and your signed lesson plan. For the digital test you also need to be able to log in with MitID.
